Public transport is essential in facilitating movement and especially in big cities where buses are mostly used. To have a successful journey, you need to observe good manners while on the bus, to avoid conflict with other travellers. Some bus travel etiquette includes the following.
Have Your Fare Ready
When travelling by bus, you should not waste a lot of time looking for your fare. You should always be ready to pay when asked to. If you start looking for the fare when asked for it, you will cause a delay in the service. You should also pay promptly as agreed. In some cases, you can pay before your journey and show your ticket when asked.
Do Not Make Unnecessary Noise
Bus transport is public means. While undertaking personal stuff, you should be considerate of other passengers. As regards this, you should make no or little noise unless the need arises. For example, when making a call, talk in low tones so as not to distract others.
Keep Your Kids Close
Children can be annoying at times. They may go disturbing other passengers on the bus if they are not observed. To avoid this, you should ensure that the child is always close to you since he/she is your responsibility.
Do Not Litter the Bus
While travelling by bus, you may carry snacks for you or the children in case of hunger. Most snacks are wrapped in polythene bags, and once you are done, you may be tempted to drop the packaging inside the bus. This littering makes the environment uncomfortable for other travellers.
Be Orderly When Boarding the Bus
When boarding the bus, you should do so in an orderly manner. The best way is getting in an organized line. Also, when boarding, you should first wait for others who have arrived at their destination to alight from the bus.
